Creating a safer working environment benefits everyone. But it cannot be done by either party alone.” EMPLOYER OR EMPLOEE”

Employers and Employees must, alike, be committed to making safety at work a reality.

Employers; have the right to developing and implementing a policies and procedures to define their commitments to creating a safer workplace.

Employers; have the right to ensure that there is adequate planning and organizing to minimize the risks before work gets underway.

Employers; have the right to developing procedures to ensure everyone understands safety rules and regulations in the workplace as well as their mandatory obligations as it relates to compliance.

Employers; have the right to conduct inspections to monitor and address hazardous conditions and to control potential problems.

Employers; have the right to conduct investigations to understand why an accident has occurred and what must be done to prevent future accidents.

Employees:

  • Employees have the right to work safely in all work areas.
  • Employees have the right to expect the company to provide a safe place to work.
  • Employees have the right to make certain that the work area is safe.
  • Employees have the right to protect the environment at work.
  • Employees have the right by operating safely to protect the company’s assets.
  • Employees have the right to operate only that equipment that they are competent, trained and authorized to do so.
  • Employees have the right to protect the company’s EHS image in the communities in which it conducts its business.
  • Employees have the right to ensure that you do not carry out any act that would threaten the safety of you and or that of your fellow workers.
  • Employees have the right to be appropriately attired in correct (PPE) on the job site.
  • Employees have the right to report any unsafe act and or condition without fear of being threatened of ridicule or reprisal.
  • Employees have the right to speak up, promote and be part of promoting safety in the work place.

The above are obviously NOT JUST RIGHTS they ARE “RESPONSIBILITIES.”  They are required to happen to ensure that we develop and maintain a high safety standard for ourselves and our organization ie “DUTY OF CARE.”
