In most cases, workers experiencing a substance use disorder (SUD) require a combination of treatment approaches to provide maximum effectiveness and long-term positive outcomes.i Treatment is also commonly modified during the recovery process and throughout the patient’s lifetime, depending on the changing needs of the patient. Above all, the central aspect of substance use treatment is that the treatment approach is dependent upon characteristics of the patient.ii
