Tips to Improve Your Listening Skills
A quality safety program requires effective communication between team members. Listening is a key element in this process, but becoming an active listener can be difficult. To improve your skills make sure you are not a…
Planner: a person who is so focused on what they are going to say they tune out the individual they should be listening to. Pay attention and keep your focus on what is being said!
Dreamer: a person who drifts off to other thoughts while another is halfway through their message and as a result ends up missing the message. Respect team members and listen to what they have to say!
Sparring partner: a person who hears what’s said but quickly discredits everything being said. Challenge appropriately, but be fair!

Vanity

A little seed lay in the ground and soon began to sprout.

“Now, which of all the flowers around, Shall I,” it mused, “come out?”

The seed was heard saying, “I don’t care to be a rose. It has thorns.

I have no desire to be a lily. It’s too colorless.

And, I certainly wouldn’t want to be a violet. It’s too small and grows too close to the ground.”

The next verse explains the destiny of the fault-finding seed.

So it criticized each flower, that supercilious little seed

Until it awoke one summer day, to find itself a lowly weed!

Most of us are all too familiar with our faults – we don’t need others pointing them out. To make a real difference in the world, look for the hidden talent in others and offer them some positive input when you find it – it will be a growth experience for both of you!

Make it an awesome weekend – Life is for Living!!!
