SA mine safety suffers setback as fatalities rise

The regression is worrying, not least because overall, miners worked fewer hours in 2020 due to lockdown restrictions.
According to provisional data published by the Minerals Council SA, as of 14 December 2020, 58 people had died in work-related accidents in the country’s mining industry in 2020, up from the record low of 51 in 2019. Click here to read more.
