I received the attached photos from my brother. Bad accident with a circular saw. I believe that it is a good safety share for the group. He wrote, “Photos: Nov 23, Dec 19, Jan17, respectively. Circular saw held overhead, then allowed the blade to hit first and kick back results in this. 6 month of therapy will follow.”

I suspect what he did was to energize the saw before having it placed firmly against the object to be cut, thus generating the kickbck. Perhaps cutting overhead with a circular saw is a no-no, but I don’t recall ever hearing about that.
