Alexander Pope (English Poet) once authored a poem on criticism where he wrote the phrase, “To error is human, to forgive divine.” It certainly has been used and misused ever since. However, that works when others error around us, but what about for us personally? When we don’t perform as we should, do we merely beat ourselves up or do we look in addition to ourselves toward the environment we choose to perform in?
I think the answer should be both! We are responsible for our own actions and attitudes; however, if we’re not be challenged by those around us to improve, maybe we need different folks around us.
The same goes for safety – let’s not just do what we’ve always done, let’s make an honest and intentional effort to get better and improve.
