We report things because the information makes us better. Near misses happen all the time; unfortunately most of the time we just check up and keep on trucking. We don’t take the time necessary to report, investigate, review, and regroup. Would we do differently if we knew a good investigation and report would save someone’s life? I think we would and as such, I think we should.

Nobody ever said safety would be easy, it requires a team that is willing to call it like they see it, hurt an occasional feeling, and put their foot down for safety. That courage isn’t found in everyone, but we need it whenever or wherever we expect positive changes in behaviors.

Let’s do our best today and our best must start, remain, and end with safety.

Thanks PT, I know many call this a near hit, but the intent of the message is still the same, preventing it.
