Texas’ electric grid buzzes with contradiction. It is simultaneously the dirtiest power system in the country and the leading generator of renewable power.
The dueling superlatives reflect changes sweeping across the Texas prairie. The use of coal has been cut in half over the last decade, to 18% of generation, while wind surged to provide about a quarter of the state’s power. To read more, click here.
