We Don’t Have To…We Get To!

Friends,

A lot about others lately! Several friends have asked me what’s going on with me, they can see a difference in my topic choices than in the years before. I’m still the same “safety guy” I’ve always been; however, we’ve been doing safety for two primary reasons: The first is compliance, that’s easily defined as doing the right things because we HAVE TO and the second reason for being safe is because we care or as I like to say, we WANT TO. I’ve always preached from the WANT TO side of the formula and as I continue to “learn” (That’s code for age 😊) I’ve uncovered a third primary reason – It’s GET TO. I have been Blessed with a long career of “taking care of people” in both my on and off the job activities alike and regardless of whether we HAVE TO or WANT TO, we can’t experience the true JOY until we see it as a pleasure versus a job. That’s the difference – I GET TO do safety. I told you it was simple. I do safety because I understand the need and I am honored to share a little bit from my thoughts daily. I’m not perfect by the way, and the whole reason I write these every morning is to recommit myself to a purpose. (Love others and keep people safe.)
