ZEROHOUR NEWSLETTER: SEPTEMBER 2022

Make an Impact This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Click here to read the full newsletter.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month (PCAM), and for patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones, this is YOUR month. There are still two weeks left in the month to get involved and do your part to help spread awareness.
September is also a great time to donate because all gifts are doubled thanks to a special matching gift fund. Your support helps make early detection a priority and puts education and awareness resources in the hands of those who need them most.

Be sure to CLICK HERE and take our “Am I At Risk” Quiz. You can also listen to special PCAM Podcasts featuring Twisted Sister’s Jay Jay French, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, and former NBA all-star Grant Hill.
Remember, early detection saves lives and that’s exactly what Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is about.

Advocacy in Action

On September 18 at the SEA Blue Run/Walk in Chicago, ZERO presented Illinois State Representative La Shawn K. Ford with the Health Equity Advocacy Award. Rep. Ford turned his personal experience with prostate cancer into determination to ensure that no man and no family has the same experience he did. In addition to sharing his story and sponsoring free PSA testing events, Rep. Ford introduced legislation to eliminate cost-sharing for prostate cancer screening and diagnosis for high-risk men in the state of Illinois – legislation that was signed into law on June 10. Because of Rep. Ford’s bill, thousands of men in the state will have one less barrier to the screening and early detection. ZERO is proud to have partnered with Rep. Ford in this effort.

In other news, New Jersey Congressman Donald Payne and New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez have introduced resolutions in Congress recognizing the importance of prostate cancer research, awareness, and access to early detection and treatment. To support this year’s PCAM resolution, click below.
