We know safety and when we know safety – we know hazards. When we know hazards – we need answers, fixes, and plans. What do we do when we determine something to be “unsafe?” WE STOP THE WORK! It’s not only an authority we all have – IT’S THE EXPECTATION! In fact, the expectation is to stop even when we think it’s unsafe or even when we don’t know. The common denominator in the above sentences is “STOP!”
We’ve all heard; STOP THE BLEEDING, STOP THE MUSIC, and STOP THE PRESSES, right? All used to describe an urgent action used to rethink, regroup, and/or change something. Today I want us to understand “STOP THE WORK.” There is no job so important that time can’t be taken to do it safely.
Our safe performance requires our safe planning and our safety knowledge. Think about safety and most important part of that is to – ACT ABOUT SAFETY!!
