Special thanks to EG for sharing our photo today. It’s a true reminder that people (us included sometimes) think “IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME” or else we’d do it another way. This guy was probably careful in setting the ladder there, careful in climbing on board, and is careful while he works. Being careful certainly helps reduce the likelihood of an error, but it doesn’t prevent one – 999 times out of 1000 anyway. In short, being careful is not enough.
We plan safety usually based on optimum conditions and fail to consider all the “WHAT IFS?” That’s a key part of making certain we’ll all safe all the time. To be safety perfect we have to think through the task, consider all possible hazards (existing and potential) and then ACT on them BEFORE beginning the work.
It’s a perfect day for zero injuries!
Thanks for the share, PT!
