We’ve talked about this picture a time or two before over the years; however, it’s important to revisit to reiterate the various levels of risk. We should be making the evaluations and determining our course of action based on risk level. I believe we’d all agree that ZERO risk would be the best option; however, it’s rare if perhaps even non-existent. So let’s take a close look this morning at the pictures and talk about them as opportunities allow. We “want” to find ways to reduce risk to “LOW PROBABILITY – LOW IMPACT” and that becomes what we commonly refer to as an “acceptable level of risk”; however, even in this condition, we’re subject to injury if/when we’re not 100% engaged in the moment, action, task, or activity.
Recognizing risk is another way of saying hazard recognition and we all know from previous conversations that it’s a learned skill we must all practice daily in order to reach and sustain ZERO.
If we want or expect a different result – we need to become the difference maker. A safe today begins with our commitment!
Thanks for the share, PT!
