My son’s Coast Guard cutter was recently dry docked at a Norfolk shipyard. He was immediately issued personal protective equipment (PPE) to include hardhat and safety glasses. This equipment is REQUIRED to even step foot inside the shipyard property. Required because a hazard assessment had been conducted to identify existing hazards and that PPE is to reduce the risk or likelihood of an injury. That’s what PPE is all about, and how about that Nucor Green hard hat? As you would imagine, he was proud to get it and couldn’t wait to send his old safety-dad a selfie.
Our PPE is the last line of defense to recognized or known hazards. Wearing the right stuff correctly is one of our many personal responsibilities.
Our personal safety today REQUIRES our personal action today!
Thanks to PT and JL for the share!
