As safety champions we need our message to people at different times and in order to reach some we have to know what they are looking for; we have to understand what makes them tick. We learn this through active listening skills; which, by the way, is a learned skill and a lot harder to do than one would think.
People will surprise us once we get to know them and when we know them, we can help them improve their own personal safety habits. REMEMBER: As we’re listening and helping, we’re getting better and improving our own skills and habits as well.
Safety is continuous AND continual improvement! Let’s get better today.
Thanks for the share, PT!
