I was having dinner with a small group last night when TB dropped this gem on me during a discussion on leading versus lagging indicators. The analogy works for life every bit as well as for KPIs. T said something like, ‘If we’re constantly looking back, we’ll only see where we’ve been and miss out on where we are as well as opportunities that could change our direction or path’. Of course we were talking safety, but just let that whole concept sink in a minute.
Sure we need to pay attention to the journey, but let’s concentrate most of our effort to where we are and where we’re going and not so much on where we’ve been. Special thanks to TB for allowing me to share this and to everyone else for reading along.
Today is our next opportunity – what will it be?
Thanks for the share, PT… Give this one some thought with an open mind….
