The Correct 100 Point Response is:
1. Become familiar with
the specifics of locking out the equipment.
Find and READ the lockout procedure for the equipment. (Service
Manuals, JSAs, etc.) Discuss the procedure with other knowledgable
workers. If there are no lockout procedures to follow, STOP NOW and create
some! Take the time to develop and discuss with your supervisor or
other competent person a safe lockout procedure (JSA/TSA) for this task
involving all seven steps of a complete lockout procedure. Then put the
steps into a step-by-step checklist for current use and future
reference.
2. Identify all power sources for the equipment and locate and mark all
the different power disconnects, indicating the function of each.
(EXAMPLE – put a “LOCKOUT HERE” label at the
disconnect site.)
3. Inform all workers who might be affected by this job.
Direct communication as well as Warning Signs or Barriers can be
used.
4. Identify the various types of stored energy that need to be controlled and how best to control them.
