When on foot, remain a safe distance from the bottom of the highwall.
2. Work the highwall only with approved equipment.
3. Hand-loading is never a good idea except from very small stockpiles.
4. Learn to recognize signs of pending highwall failure at your mine
and keep an eye out for them.
5. Remove loose material from highwalls using only procedures proven to
be safe at your mine.
6. Prior to correction of sliding or falling material hazards, place
barricades to keep persons/equipment out of the area.
7. If your vehicle is parked near the foot of a stockpile or highwall,
never place yourself between your vehicle and either of these.
