Put the following fall prevention controls in order from most effective to least effective:


a) Eliminating the Hazard
Is there an alternative to going up there? Eliminate all unnecessary fall hazard exposure. Example – moving a blower or HVAC unit away from a roof’s unprotected edge.
b) Effective Fall Arrest Systems
Plan for the event and minimize the consequences. Example – Ladder climbing system, Horizontal Lifeline, other Fall Arrest Systems.
c) Effective Fall Prevention Systems
Eliminate the exposure via guarding. Example - Railings on all elevated work spaces and providing permanent work platforms in frequently visited areas (like elevated control valves, etc.)
