Ground conditions at the lift site are important to a safe lift. Examine the ground carefully and add load-spreading cribbing, timbers, mats or pads under the stabilizer bases as needed to maintain stability. Also, equipment, such as backhoes, often do jobs where the outriggers are not used. Don't assume the last operator inspected them. Perform routine inspections on equipment components as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
