The
Correct 30 Point Response
is:
1. Any permanent kinking.
2. "Bird-caging" in any portion of the wire rope.
3. Significant corrosion. (See manufacturer's guidelines.)
4. Weight capacity tag missing
or too damaged to read.
5. A certain number of broken wires in any strand. (Any 12 in one 'lay' or 4 or more per strand is the recommendation.)
6. Wear that reduces diameter of outside wires by 1/3rd.
7. Significant diameter reduction of the wire rope. (Stretching or internal wire breakage. See manufacturer recommendations.)
8. Shock loading applied to the rigging.
(Severe jerk that might
happen if a load is dropped off an edge, or if rigging was used for a
towing job and the tow vehicle jumped forward, yanking a previously
slack wire rope.)
9. Heat Damage
