OSHA publishes the top list of 10 most frequently cited standards each year so that employers can understand industry trends and take steps to find and fix recognized hazards.
The Fall Protection – General Requirements standard has topped the list for several years in a row. The standard outlines:
• where fall protection is required
• which systems are appropriate for given situations
• the proper construction and installation of safety systems
• the proper supervision of employees to prevent falls
It is designed to protect employees on walking-working surfaces (horizontal or vertical) with an unprotected side or edge above 6 feet.
