Highwall Accident, 2013

We are near spring, but the weather has been warm, cold, rainy, snowy, all the things that make highwalls unstable. This is a picture of a near hit accident this week where it looks like auger mining might have been taking place and the highwall sloughed off and hit the forklift you see. The operator was beat up and has multiple broken bones I think. Details have been sketchy, but it appears the operator will live.

The date you see on the photo may not be accurate as the accident did happen around 2-19-2013.
