Going on Vacation?
Here are some tips to keep your home safe from electrical fires and other hazards before you leave town this summer:

  • Unplug any extension cords, kitchen countertop appliances, and other small appliances such as lamps
  • Test your GFCI and AFCI outlets and breakers
  • Don’t have AFCIs? Call an electrician to install one in your panel to prevent electrical fires from occurring while you’re away
  • Ensure that your smoke alarms are working on every level of your home
  • Check to make sure that your carbon monoxide alarm is functioning to protect your home from any gas appliances
