Coal’s Comeback?
CHARLESTON (WV News) — Is a coal renaissance possible in West Virginia?
State Senate Concurrent Resolution 18 aims to kick-start increased coal production and use due to the “major philosophical and political change” following the 2024 election in regards to the use of thermal coal.
The resolution directs the West Virginia Department of Commerce, West Virginia Coalfield Development, West Virginia Public Energy Authority and West Virginia Office of Energy to work together to develop strategies “to expand West Virginia’s coal industry.”
