A few weeks back I wrote a story that proposed that we all quit talking about so-called “peak oil” demand since, according to various sources, the world has not yet even managed to achieve “peak coal” demand. If the world is to really eliminate or at least reduce the highest sources of carbon emissions, after all, it will need to start at the top – which coal surely is – and work its way down.
