2023 March-April Edition

In this edition of the Labor Ledger, we highlight two businesses–Sonoco Recycling and SANS Technical Fibers–that have earned recognition from the NCDOL for their efforts to make the workplace a safe and healthy place for their employees.

Also featured is an article contributed by LaMont Smith, Recognition Program Manager of NCDOL’s Education, Training and Technical Assistance (ETTA) Bureau, that covers the recent Special Star Team Member Training (SSTM) sessions that took place in Raleigh and Winston-Salem.

SANS Technical Fibers Recertified as SHARP Participant

Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson visited the Stoneville facility to present Sans Technical Fibers employees with the honorary SHARP flag.

Special Star Team Member Training

SSTM training took place March 7-9 in Raleigh and March 15-16 in Winston-Salem. Since theinception of the SSTM Program in 2009, more than 300 participants have completed training.

Two Sonoco Recycling Locations Earn First Carolina Star Recertifications
Locations in Wilmington and Jacksonville received their first recertifications since becoming Carolina Star participants in 2019.
